Intype

What a dull summer it’s been for me. I guess I can blame my slight addiction to the Xbox 360, man it’s a fun system. On to the subject at hand. I’m normally a avid Dreamweaver user, but earlier this year I felt the need to discover a new editor. Something clean, cheap and smart. I think I have found it, it’s called Intype. It is clean, well designed, and fast, it’s comparable to Textmate on the Mac. It is currently still in development and is only in its alpha phase, but already it’s showing great potential. It runs great, very small with no excess fat, an overall great editor that can handle any tasks from designing CSS layouts, to developing a full blown PHP based portal. If your looking for a great windows editor that can handle all kids of programming languages, do you self a favor and check out Intype will ya.

Another site added to my portfolio!

I just finished a new site for Meyerings Insurance! This was a fun project, I totally enjoyed working with Meyerings to produce this great site. The site is formatted using XHTML 1.0 Strict! Completely valid and even has a hint of CSS3 so if your going to validate it against CSS2.1, it will fail, you need to select CSS3 at the CSS Validation Site. Meyerings new site is also semantic. This is what it’s all about boys and girls, creating valid, semantic, attractive sites that are extremely usable. Head over and check out their new site!

Safari 3 for Windows

If you haven’t heard by now, Safari 3 beta is out for Mac OSX and Windows! Yes you heard me… Windows. I’m using it right now on Windows XP and, I just noticed my little editing toolbar in WordPress is gone. Must be a bug. Another bug I noticed is running Safari on Vista all my toolbar text is screwed up, like a odd language. If anyone else has this and know how to fix it please post. Other than that I suppose Safari is nice, it would take a lot to pull me away from Firefox. Right now it’s merely another testing browser. Good news for that, now I don’t have to wonder what my sites look like on a Mac.

New site added to my portfolio!

The Gourd HouseAfter a month and a half of work, meetings, and collecting data I have another completed site under my belt and a very happy client. Let me present to you The Gourd House! The product being sold on this site are bird houses made from gourds. I didn’t even know these existed until my client approached me to design them a site. I also want to add that these Gourd Houses are pretty darn popular.

The site was designed using valid XHTML, valid CSS, and absolutely no tables. What are you waiting for? Head over there and check out The Gourd House now.

If you’re into accessible design, read this!

I just got finished reading an excellent article on page design semantics. The article covers the reasoning behind designing accessible websites by using tags that convey meaning to the page. For example if you are writing a headline on your page, then doesn’t make sense to use the H tags for the headline, same with quotes, their are so many designers who use the paragraph tag for quotes and add a splash of CSS to make it pretty, doesn’t make more sense to use the blockqoute tag? Anyway I highly recommend you read this article if you want to learn about a big part of the future of web design. Peters out! Doh… to much American Idol I guess :)
